Suffolk East Anglia - Based to the north-east of Greater london, the county of Suffolk is part of the region of Great Britain called East Anglia. The county has an area of 1,466 sq miles plus a population of about 730,000. The county is bounded by the neighbouring counties of Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, Ipswich is the major town, whilst other important towns include Lowestoft, Newmarket, Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Bury Saint Edmunds. The county is typically flat and low-lying, in the northern part of the county you can find wetland areas that are within The Broads National Park. From 1889-1974 the county was split into two administrative counties, East Suffolk and West Suffolk.
