Suffolk - Situated to the north-east of London, the county of Suffolk is part of the area of Great Britain generally known as East Anglia. The county has a land area of 1,466 square mls and a population of around 730,000. The county of Suffolk is bounded by the neighbouring counties of Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, the major town is Ipswich, while other vital towns are Bury Saint Edmunds, Newmarket, Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Lowestoft. During the period 1889-1974 the county was separated into 2 administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
