Suffolk Overview - Positioned to the north-east of The city of London, the county of Suffolk is within the area of The United Kingdom known as East Anglia. The county has a land area of 1,466 square mls along with a population of about seven hundred and thirty thousand. Suffolk is bordered by the counties of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Essex, Ipswich is the county town, while other significant towns include Bury St Edmunds, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Newmarket and Lowestoft. Suffolk is for the most part flat and low-lying, you'll find wetland areas in the northern part of the county that are within The Broads. From 1889-1974 Suffolk was separated into two administrative counties, East Suffolk and West Suffolk.
