Suffolk - Established to the north-east of The city of London, the rural county of Suffolk is part of the region of The UK referred to as East Anglia. The county has an area of 1,466 square mls along with a population of approximately seven hundred and thirty thousand. Suffolk touches the counties of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Essex, the major town is Ipswich, whilst additional important towns are Lowestoft, Felixstowe, Newmarket, Stowmarket and Bury Saint Edmunds. During the period 1889-1974 Suffolk was divided into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
