Suffolk UK - Established to the north-east of London, the county of Suffolk is part of the area of Great Britain generally known as East Anglia. The county of Suffolk incorporates an area of 1,466 square mls and a population of roughly seven hundred and thirty thousand. The county borders the neighbouring counties of Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, Ipswich is the capital town, whilst additional important towns include Bury Saint Edmunds, Felixstowe, Stowmarket, Newmarket and Lowestoft. Suffolk is for the most part flat and low-lying, in the northern part of the county there are wetland areas which are part of The Broads National Park. During the period 1889-1974 the county was separated into 2 administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
