Suffolk - Situated to the north-east of Greater london, the county of Suffolk is within the area of England generally known as East Anglia. The county has a land area of 1,466 sq mls and has a population of around 730,000. The county of Suffolk is bordered by the neighbouring counties of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Essex, the capital town is Ipswich, whilst other important towns are Lowestoft, Stowmarket, Felixstowe, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds. The county is mostly low-lying and flat, in the northern part of the county you can find wetland areas that are within The Broads National Park. From 1889-1974 the county was split into two administrative counties, East Suffolk and West Suffolk.
