Suffolk Overview - Found to the north-east of The city of London, the county of Suffolk is within the area of England referred to as East Anglia. The county incorporates an area of 1,466 sq miles along with a population of around seven hundred and thirty thousand. Suffolk borders the neighbouring counties of Essex, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, the capital town is Ipswich, whilst additional significant towns include Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Newmarket, Felixstowe and Lowestoft. The county of Suffolk is mainly flat and low-lying, in the north of the county you will find wetland areas that are part of The Broads National Park. During the period 1889-1974 the county of Suffolk was separated into two administrative counties, West Suffolk and East Suffolk.
